Rain Bird DBRY
Rain Bird WC20 direct-bury wire connector
This is the current Rain Bird WC20 connector, previously sold as DBRY20. Rain Bird's technical bulletin confirms that the 2018 change was a rebrand only: DBRY20 and WC20 are the same product and are directly interchangeable.
The WC20 uses a twist-on wire nut inside a silicone-filled direct-bury tube. It is intended for reliable controller, valve-box, soil-moisture-sensor and two-wire decoder connections.
Specifications
- For solid or stranded wire combinations from 22 to 8 AWG, approximately 0.33 to 8.37 mm²
- Connection range: 24 to 600 V AC
- UL 486D certified for direct burial
- Maximum connector temperature: 105°C
- Silicone sealant temperature range: -43°C to 204°C
- Approximate size: 9.37 cm high × 3.81 cm wide × 3.02 cm deep (3 11/16 × 1 1/2 × 1 3/16 in)
- Available here as a single connector, bag of 20 or box of 100
Installation
- Turn off the power and follow applicable electrical regulations.
- Strip 15.9 mm (5/8 in) of insulation. Pre-twisting is not required; hold the wire ends even and align any loose strands.
- Push the wires firmly into the twist-on connector and screw it clockwise until tight.
- Insert the completed splice to the bottom of the silicone-filled tube.
- Place the wires in the channels and close the lid until the latch is secure.
Selection guidance: Choose WC20 where you need a direct-bury connector with strain relief and a wide conductor range. For compact self-stripping connections using up to three smaller insulated copper wires, see the Rain Bird DBM10. For stripped copper conductors below 30 V, see the Rain Bird KING connector.
